Hailed by the Canadian press as “a voice of gold...that can make you feel heartrending sorrow or ecstatic joy,” who's “dedication to dramatic interpretation calls up the spectre of opera diva Maria Callas,” and who's performances “exude that Callas-esque involvement with the work,” tenor Dustin Hiles is truly one of the nations rising stars.
In 2010 Dustin was honored to have met, and performed before, her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh at their Canadian residence in Ottawa, Ontario. In 2009 It was also a great privilege to have performed for their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
At twenty three, Dustin's career has already brought him to the stages of the Canadian Opera Company, the Banff Center, Burnaby Lyric Opera, Opera Fort Collins, Seattle Opera, and the Vancouver Opera Association. As well as with the Symphonia Arctica Copenhagen and the Symphonies of Abbotsford, the Fraser Valley, Manitoba, and Vancouver.
In Canada's capital Dustin has become a beloved performing personality, having sang at numerous events for three Canadian Prime Ministers, The Speakers the upper and lower Houses of Parliament, and many members of the diplomatic-core including the Ambassadors of Great Britain, China, Russia & the USA, and members of both the Canadian Senate and the House of Commons. Dustin is also honored to be a favored performer of His Grace Archbishop Luigi Ventura, Papal Ambassador to France (and formerlly Canada)
A former student of Soprano Jane Eaglen, Dustin's passion for Wagner has brought him under the mentor ship of this repertoires leading singers including: Jeannine Altmeyer, Stig Fogh Andresen, and Siegfried Jerusalem. He has also coached with such singers, conductors, and directors as: Phillip Ens, Judith Forst, Julianna Gondek, Nancy Hermiston, Imre Pallo, Robert Spano, Daniel Sumegi, Stephen Wadsworth and Carol Vaness.
A passionate advocate for youth involvement in the Arts Dustin has been interviewed by Much Music Canada, CTV, and Rogers Chanel 5. He has also performed benefit concerts for such groups as the Canadian Polio Association, Canadian Aids Foundation, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver.
